On October 1, 2025, SAMHSA grantees switched over to a new instrument, SAMHSA’s Unified Performance Reporting Tool (SUPRT), to collect and report required measures back to SAMHSA. This marked the first major change in performance measures data collection in decades. Prior to this update, grantees had used different standardized measurement tools depending on their funding stream since the original Government Performance and Results Act of 1993 (GPRA). It’s now been one month since SAMHSA updated the tool that grantees use for required performance measure reporting and grantees are adapting to the changes.
Some of those changes include:
- Different reassessment time points with some clients requiring reassessment at three- and six-month time points, as well as annually
- Updated guidance for closing out records for clients no longer receiving care
- New requirements for different kinds of assessments
- Guidance for clients with multiple episodes of care
- Updates to ICD-10 codes and diagnostic reporting
While making the change over to the new system, grantees may still have outstanding GPRA and NOMs records to enter using the old system. SAMHSA has allowed grantees until December 1, 2025 to finalize all GPRA and NOMs assessments.
