Community college

Last week, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced $65 million in new grant funding for its Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants. This is the sixth round of this funding stream which was awarded to seven statewide community college systems in Colorado, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Texas.

The seven awardees represent over 100 colleges who will receive these funds to bolster their training programs across industries like AI infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, health care, nuclear energy, and shipbuilding. Ultimately, the funding will ensure these areas have the skilled workforce they need to maintain thriving industries and services in local populations.

Reporting Requirements

Grantees receiving these funds are required to use the Participant Individual Record Layout (PIRL) data collection tool to report data regularly to DOL. PRG Insight supports current SCCTG grantees with PIRL data collection and reporting, and we are excited to provide our services to Round 6 SCCTG grantees as well!

Evaluation Requirements

As part of the requirements, grantees must hire an external evaluator for a developmental evaluation. With more than 20 years of experience working with federal grantees, including community colleges and workforce boards, PRG is excited to partner with Round 6 SCCTG awardees for the evaluation requirement of the grant.
